What Makes Butterfly Weft Different
Traditional hand-tied weft cannot be cut without unraveling the tie. Butterfly weft has a silicone-sealed seam that stays sealed at any cut point. Same zero-shed hand-tied construction, plus the flexibility to size any row to any head.
Every butterfly weft row shipped by VeeJeen passes through the same 4-gate QC that every other hair extension on our floor passes. Mixed-SKU orders — tape-in paired with K-tip paired with hand-tied weft — all meet the same cuticle alignment, color tolerance, and shed-rate thresholds, so the salon tech installing them works to one consistent spec rather than product-by-product guesswork.
The butterfly weft row is salon-floor-tested across 400+ accounts in 25 countries. Install times, wear duration, and reinstall cycles that we quote are measured against real salon data from working accounts — not vendor-side laboratory tests. How Butterfly Weft Installs
Two install options. Bead-and-thread is the modern salon standard; sew-in remains for traditional installs.
Cut To Fit
Measure across head. Cut butterfly weft to width. Silicone seam stays sealed.
Bead Foundation
Install 6–10 micro ring beads across the row line on natural hair. Standard NDA signed at discovery-call stage covers spec, formulation, packaging, volume, and partnership terms.
Thread Weft
Use curved needle + thread. Attach weft top edge to beaded foundation.
Secure & Cut
Tie off thread ends. Trim excess. Check row is flat. Full-hardness cure validated per batch: UV < 30 seconds at 365nm; solvent < 5 minutes air set.
Repeat Rows
3–5 rows per full-head install. 45–90 min salon time.

Cuticle Alignment Verify
40x microscope check on 6 strands per bundle. 100% root-to-tip alignment required or bundle rejects at intake. Verified by 40x microscope on 6 strands per intake bundle; any reversed direction rejects the whole bundle.
Remy Grade Confirm
Cross-check against source ledger. Reject any bundle showing mixed cuticle direction — the signature of non-Remy hair blended in. Full-cuticle Remy, cuticle direction matched root-to-tip across 100% of strands at intake.
Tensile Pull Test
Digital force gauge, 5-strand sample per hour. Threshold >60N single-strand pull to break. Fails trigger station halt. Threshold > 60N per single strand; batches failing twice are reworked and retested, not shipped on waiver.
Spectrometer Color Match
X-Rite Ci64 reflectance spectrometer. Every dyed batch measured against reference swatch to ΔE < 2.0. X-Rite Ci64 unit, calibrated weekly against certified white tile; cross-batch readings archived 12 months.
Shed Weight Measurement
0.01g scale. Comb 50 strokes, weigh loss. Shed rate must stay < 3% of pack weight. Above — reject pack. ± 2% weight tolerance per pack at 0.5g scale resolution; signed QC card inside every pack verifies.
Moisture Content
Gravimetric analyzer at 105°C. Threshold < 12%. Above — re-dry batch and retest before it moves forward. Gravimetric moisture analyzer at 105°C; threshold < 12% content before every pack seal.
Wash Fastness Simulation
10-cycle home laundry rig. No detectable color loss. Fails send batch back to color lab for reformulation. 10-cycle salon wash simulation on retained sample; batches showing any color loss are reworked, not shipped.
Tangle Resistance Test
