Hair Extension Market Trends 2026: What B2B Buyers Are Ordering

Between January and August 2026, VeeJeen shipped 320,000 packs of hair extensions to 400+ salon and distributor accounts across 25 countries. Here is what that order data tells us about where the market is going in the next 12 months.

Five Trends At A Glance

Order data from January to August 2026 — roughly 320,000 packs shipped across 12 product lines — shows five clear directional shifts vs. 2025.

  1. Invisible tape-in is up 68% YoY. Traditional 0.30mm PU tape-in is down 12%.
  2. Hand-tied weft is up 34% YoY. Butterfly-seam variants grew fastest inside that.
  3. K-tip and I-tip (fusion) held flat. Cold-bond (nano/micro ring) crept up 8%.
  4. Private label MOQ orders are up 55%. First-time PL launches doubled.
  5. Adhesive-line orders up 41%. UV glue leads — +72% YoY.

Numbers below are from VeeJeen internal ordering data (Jan–Aug 2026) across 400+ accounts. Salon accounts weighted 65%, distributor accounts 20%, private label accounts 15%.

Trend 1: Invisible Tape Is Eating Standard Tape

The biggest single shift in 2026 has been from standard 0.30mm PU tape-in to invisible 0.15mm PU. Salon and distributor demand for invisible has grown 68% YoY. Standard tape has dropped 12% in the same window.

Two things are driving it:

  1. Salon clients see themselves on video. Zoom, social media, and phone selfies show the parting line in a way that mirrors did not. Clients spot the beige PU strip and ask about it. Salons switch to invisible to remove the objection.
  2. The price gap has narrowed. In 2024 invisible tape was USD 6–7 more per pack. In 2026 it is USD 3–4 more. Salons can absorb that.

Where is standard tape still selling? Two places: entry-tier salon accounts where the USD 3 per pack still matters, and Middle East / MENA markets where fewer clients notice the parting line.

Trend 2: Hand-Tied Weft Is Growing Fast

Hand-tied weft is up 34% YoY, and inside that, butterfly-seam variants are the fastest growers.

The salon economics work like this:

  • Hand-tied weft installs in 60–90 minutes for a full head
  • Wears 6–12 months (vs. 8–10 weeks for tape-in)
  • Client rebooks for reinstall every 8–10 weeks, but the extensions themselves last through 3–5 reinstalls

The result: higher up-front spend for the client, higher install fee for the salon, and lower per-week extension cost for both. Salons targeting long-term clients (bridal, executive, high-income) are switching from tape-in to hand-tied weft as their premium tier.

Butterfly weft — the cut-anywhere silicone-seamed variant — grew 112% YoY within the hand-tied weft category. Stylists like being able to cut the row to head width without unraveling.

Trend 3: Fusion Held Flat, Cold-Bond Crept Up

K-tip, I-tip, U-tip (fusion methods) shipped roughly the same volume in H1 2026 as H1 2025. No growth, no decline. The fusion category is now a mature workhorse.

Cold-bond methods — nano ring and micro ring — are up 8% YoY. Not a huge number, but a directional shift. Two drivers:

  • Bleached and chemically-treated client base is growing. These clients cannot tolerate fusion heat. Cold-bond is the only path.
  • Nano ring visibility. The 0.9mm bead disappears at the parting even better than invisible tape. Salons pitching "invisible extensions" now include nano ring in the offering.

Trend 4: Private Label Is Accelerating

First-time private label launches at VeeJeen doubled between H1 2025 and H1 2026. Total PL MOQ orders are up 55%.

Who is launching? Three categories:

  1. Salon owners going brand-side. Established salons with 5+ years of extension client base launching their own retail line.
  2. Influencer-founded brands. Social-first brands where the founder has an audience but no manufacturing side.
  3. Distributor-to-brand transitions. Regional distributors adding a house brand alongside their multi-brand catalog.

Common denominator: they all want to control the pack, not just the resell. Private label at 300-pack MOQ is now more accessible than it was three years ago when the floor was 1,000+.

Considering A Private Label Launch?

Our PL program covers 8 customization dimensions with a 300-pack MOQ per SKU per color. First-run in 21–30 days.

Trend 5: Adhesive Is Where The Margin Is

Consumables — extension glue, UV glue, tape, remover, shampoo, beads, pliers — grew 41% YoY. Inside that, UV glue is up 72%.

Salons are ordering supplies together with hair on a growing share of POs. In 2024 about 30% of hair orders included a supplies line. In 2026 that is 51%. Salons realized they can save 8–15% by consolidating shipments.

Why UV glue specifically? Three reasons:

  • Faster cure than solvent-based extension glue (30 seconds vs. 5 minutes to full set)
  • Odorless install — solvent glue smells during application
  • Longer shelf life — UV glue is stable 24 months, solvent glue 12

Geographic Shift: MENA And LATAM Are Growing

Order data by destination country tells its own story. Traditional VeeJeen markets — US, UK, EU, AU — still make up 68% of shipments. But the fastest-growing destinations in H1 2026 were:

RegionYoY GrowthNote
MENA (UAE, Saudi, Egypt)+94%Bridal season Q1 drove Q2 reorders
LATAM (Brazil, Mexico)+62%New distributor accounts opened Q1
Southeast Asia+38%Vietnam and Thailand growing fastest
Eastern Europe+28%Poland and Romania leading
US East Coast+8%Steady mature market
UK+3%Flat, mature market
Western Europe-2%Slight decline

MENA growth is the story of 2026. Salon density is high, disposable income is up, and the wedding market is huge. Adhesive-line SKUs move alongside hair in MENA at nearly 2:1 vs. our global average.

What To Expect In H2 2026 And Into 2027

Three predictions based on the current trend lines:

  1. Invisible tape becomes the default within 18 months. Standard 0.30mm PU tape will still exist for entry-tier accounts, but the mainstream salon shelf will be 0.15mm PU by mid-2027.
  2. Hand-tied weft continues to grow. Butterfly-seam variants specifically will double again in H1 2027.
  3. Private label MOQ pressure will keep dropping. Factories that can produce clean 300-pack runs will gain PL market share from factories still stuck at 1,000-pack floors.
“The 2026 buyer wants invisibility, longevity, and control. Every trend we tracked ladders back to one of those three.”
